My brother has a one bedroom apartment he lets out during big events in Cardiff (UK). He clears his personal stuff into a locked closet and goes to his girlfriend’s for the weekend. He makes a huge amount – often $500 a night for big events like international rugby matches. I think his biggest booking so far is for this summer when Pink is playing in town.
As for letting out several rooms to different renters, many hosts do this too. I can imagine it gets a bit hectic and has more of a hostel vibe but I would bet you’d meet many like minded people. I’d have been all about it in my twenties.
