What Do I Need In My Airbnb Kitchen?

I’ve been asked what items should be kept in an Airbnb kitchen and decided it would be worth sharing my thoughts here as I’m thinking about this issue right now. I’m moving out of my primary residence and turning it into a furnished rental and occasional Airbnb, so am sorting through my stuff and making sure my Airbnb kitchen is fully stocked.

Since I will need kitchen stuff in my new house too, I’m dividing up my stuff and need to make sure both kitchens will be adequately stocked.

Surprisingly, I have doubles of lots of things like can openers, chopping boards, frying pans etc (largely through combining my things with my wife’s when we moved in together). So most things I’ve already got covered. Anything I only have one of, I consider whether it would be essential or helpful in the Airbnb and if so, order another one on Amazon. I wouldn’t say you need all of these, but I had them anyway and am on a Marie Kondo* style de-clutter.

I’m splitting the kitchenware up over the weekend, and will be living in the house with only the Airbnb stuff for a few weeks before moving out. Inevitably I will miss some things and wish I had them in my Airbnb kitchen. So as I cook (which I do a lot!) I will hop on to Amazon every time I find myself pining for that must have item that my kitchen is lacking.

Extras

As I’m moving from the US to the UK, I’m also leaving all 120v electronic items which I wouldn’t consider essential but I might as well leave anyway. So my lucky guests will be free to enjoy my sous vide, mixer, blender, ice-cream maker and all sorts of other wonderful kitchen gadgets!

I also keep a stock pile of things like paper towels and dishwasher tablets etc under the sink. When my cleaner tells me that supplies are running low, I just hop onto Amazon Pantry and get some more delivered direct to the property. If you’ve not tried Amazon Pantry* yet, there’s a 30 Day free trial available at the moment. It makes life easier.

If you’ve not started hosting on Airbnb yet, just do it. I really recommend it. It’s less work than you might think, particularly if you utilise outsourcing and automation. You can sign up to become an Airbnb Host here*. If you have a listing already, hopefully the above will give you some inspiration for what to put in your own Airbnb kitchen.

Thanks for reading, and happy hosting!
