Answer:
Airbnb has definitely brought me and my neighbors closer together.
The couple to my left were the first on it, and showed me the ropes when I began.
The neighbor opposite cleans and takes care of guest turnover for me. She’s the reason I don’t need a property manager. She hosts now too. Her husband is a contractor and gives me contacts if I need work done (handyman/plumber etc).
The guys to my right would keep an eye on the house and tell me if they had any concerns about any of my guests. They were inspired to join in too and remodeled their garage into a mother-in-law suite to rent out on Airbnb.
We have neighborhood porch parties often. We all trade war stories when we catch up. We help each other out. We send guests we can’t accommodate to each other. We all helped out and offered to put up the extended family of one neighbor when they sadly lost their grandfather and had lots of people in town for the funeral.
I’m sure there are many cases where neighbors are falling out with each other because of Airbnb*. But not in my community. It’s really been a positive thing for us.
